May 2008 Daisy had a nice Spooks Gotta Gun stud colt.
April 2008- NRBC! Had two gorgeous babies born this month. A Gunner filly by Dixie, and a Big Chex To Cash stud colt by Nikki. Had a great show at the NRBC. Nick marked a 216 and missed the Non Pro finals by half a point! Nick and Sly still showed great in the finals placing 3rd in the Limited Non Pro, and 5th in the Intermediate finals. They came home with two NRBC coolers, a custom painted NRBC mirror and $7,000. Besides a rain storm one day, the weather was very nice at the show this year and it was great to catch up with friends. March 2008- Magazine Cover! Nick and Sly made the cover of the March Quarter Horse News Magazine. Nice interview inside about the Ft. Worth Stock Show. Feb. 2008- Waco Derby. First babies arrive! Nick and Smart Smokin Chic won all three divisions of the Non Pro Derby in Waco this month. Then on Feb.19th, Sheza Beautiful Chic foaled a loud colored palomino overo stud colt with 2 blue eyes. This colt is double registered. We also sold Color Coded Peppy to Angelika in Germany. They are going to make a great team! Jan. 2008- Stock Show- Great start for 2008! Just got back from the Fort Worth Stock Show. What a way to start the 2008 show season! Nick won the NRHA Non-Pro, and APHA Amateur class on Smart Smokin Chic marking a 146.5. They won some money and a Bronze. Then Nick won the AQHA, placed second in the Non- Pro and APHA Amateur class on Click On Chic marking a 145. December 2007- Favorite time of year! Had a great Christmas with my family. Time to relax and give all the horses a well deserved break. Got to see one of the APHA commercials that has Nick and I on it. They have Nick stopping Sly and me loping circles at the very end on Daisy. Well, you cannot see me, only Daisy which is fine by me! Got to finally purchase a double registered mare I have wanted for years. "Chics Holiday" is now in our broodmare band. We are so excited to bring her home. Thanks Lillian for the opportunity to finally own her! November 2007- Futurity time- Yeah! What a Futurity show. We sold our RR Star weanling colt to Andrea Fappani. It was sad to see him go, but cannot wait to see how he does with Andrea! Wish I was only selling horses, I added to our herd also this month. We bought "Sheza Beauty Too" and her Custom Crome yearling son. What a nice mare, see our broodmare section for more info on her. This is our first Custom Crome to ever own also. He is certainly a nice prospect, cannot wait to get him started under saddle. August 2007- Tulsa Slide Show Wow! Just got back from the Tulsa Slide Zone Show. They asked us if we would donate Molly my Gunner mare (Dazzling Top Gun) in the Charity Slide Off to see who slides the furthest. Mike McIntire rode Molly to the victory. She was only doing what she does best, stop hard and long. The other riders demanded a run off and they all ran again to the other end of the pen with Molly leaving them behind once more. Molly won over $3,000 for a local charity. Thank goodness something good came out of the show, becuase the next morning when I went to show Molly, it was a wreck. She apparently thought we were in a slide off again and took off on all my run downs! Other good news, we hauled pregnant Daisy ( Joes Two Eyed Stinger) to Louisiana to finish up the show season. She won the Novice Horse class, a pewter and won the year end award. Brought her home, gave her a kiss and pulled her shoes. She was not sure what to do about retirement at first. After all, who is going to wash and condition that pretty mane now? Daisy is carrying a "Spooks Gotta Gun" sire/dam baby. July 2007- Paint World Show! What a great Paint World Show. 2 World Championships! It was hot as usual and the weather was horrible. It rained the entire show, so warm up was a challenge for everyone. Casey Deary won the Senior Reining for us on Molly (Dazzling Top Gun) What a great run. The next weekend, I lead the prelims on Molly with a 219. The next day, she tried so hard for me but trotted out of a roll back. No doubt this day belonged to Nick and Sly (Smart Smokin Chic) They totally blew me away with a beautiful run. Nick and Sly won the Amateur Reining. Enjoyed watching the 3 year old reining challenge, the horses are getting more tough every year!
June 2007- Photo Shoot Nick and I did a Photo Shoot for APHA. I was riding Daisy (Joes Two Eyed Stinger) and Nick was on Sly (Smart Smokin Chic) Who knows, maybe we will pop up in some ads somewhere! May 2007 Our first NRHA Derby trip. Nick and Sly placed 3rd in the Limited Non-Pro Derby. What a blast! April 2007- NRBC and Babies Nick and Sly (Smart Smokin Chic) won Reserve Limited Non Pro at the NRBC!!! I was so proud of both of them, they worked so hard to get there. We also had mares start to foal during the show of course. Everyone did a great job. Smokin Chic had a palomino overo filly by Big Chex To Cash. DA Steady Chex had a sire/dam RR Star overo stud colt. Dixie foaled a sire/dam Spooks Gotta Gun filly for us.
Jan. 2007- Stock Show Nick and Jordan Donnelly tied to win the Non-Pro and Int. Non-Pro class at the Fort Worth Stock Show. Nick also won the APHA Amateur class. Nick won his first NRHA bronze trophy!
December 2006- Paint Vegas Wrapped up the NRHA Futurity and packed for our show trip to Vegas. I have barely been out of Texas and now I am driving with my husband to Vegas? It was APHA's first time to have a show like this with this much added money in the reining so we wanted to make sure and support it . Nick and I tied each other as Co- Champions. APHA did a nice write up about us and how we support each other with showing and preparing our horses. What a priceless trip this was! Nick got us home to Texas safely, ice storms and all.
